Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Make the Frame

  • Cut a 6 x 4 inch rectangle from coloured cardstock.
  • Cut a 5 x 2.5 inch window in the centre — this is your magic display area.
  • Set the frame aside.

2. Make the White Slider Guide (Not Glued!)

  • Cut a white cardstock strip, about 5 x 3.5 inches.
  • On the left and right ends, make a vertical fold about ½ inch in.
This creates a flat “tunnel” for the plastic to glide under.
  • Crease the folds well — this will be the glide guide for your magic pull-out card.

3. Make the Colourful “DAD” Artwork

  • On another piece of white cardstock (same size: 5.5 x 3.5 inches), draw “DAD” in big, bold, comic-book-style letters.
  • Add fun comic elements like stars, lightning, and bursts.
  • Colour it in with bright, bold colours!

4.  Trace the Outline on Clear Plastic

  • Place a piece of clear plastic over your coloured DAD drawing.
  • Trace only the outlines with a black permanent marker (the letters, shapes, etc.).
  • Cut the plastic to match the size of your drawing.

5. Staple the Magic Card

  • Stack the clear plastic on top of your coloured drawing, lined up evenly.
  • Staple them together at the top — this becomes your pull-out magic card.

6. Assemble the Frame

  • Take your frame and place the white slider guide behind the window (do NOT glue it down).
  • Tuck the folded edges behind the frame and glue just the folded tabs on each side.
  • This creates a tunnel with space for the plastic to slide freely over the white background.
  • Press to secure — your frame now has a white guide layer with room for sliding.

7. Insert the Magic!

  • Slide your plastic + coloured DAD card into the guide:
  • The clear plastic layer goes in front of the white slider.
  • The coloured DAD drawing sits behind the white.
  • Push it in all the way — you’ll only see the black DAD outline at first.#
  • Now pull the card — and the colour magically appears through the window!

Done!
Add a comic-style message like “You’re SUPER, DAD!” or decorate the frame with stickers and stars. It’s one of the coolest, most magical Father’s Day cards kids can make — and it’s totally customisable!
